RCDC were appointed as MEP and sustainability consultants for the redevelopment of Northumberland House, which involved adding 29 new residential units to an existing 120-unit block of flats in Sutton. Given that the project was undertaken for a single owner, developer and contractor, our role required intensive involvement across all stages.

The main challenge of the project was the removal and replacement of the existing rooftop plant with a new one. Our chosen heating strategy included a combination of high-efficiency heat pumps and boilers providing a balance between sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

RCDC also designed a solution that provided temporary heating to the building during the transition to ensure minimal disruption to residents.
