Laura Luckhurst

Senior Engineer

Laura is a senior engineer who graduated from the University of Sheffield. She is the winner of the 2019 CIBSE/ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award.

Laura has worked in the building services sector since 2018 and has joined RCDC in 2020.

She has been exposed to a variety of projects, across multiple sectors, primarily public and commercial, with a focus on Net Zero Carbon and heat pump boiler replacement projects. She has also performed calculations to support a few SALIX applications for our Clients.

At RCDC, Laura is the Embodied Carbon Lead developing the strategy and approach which is to be utilised by the business. She completed several projects calculating the embodied and whole life carbon impact of design decisions.

Laura is passionate about encouraging young people – particularly girls and young women – into a career in engineering. In her mentoring role at Career Ready, she has assisted with either the work experience students and the summer interns who were in RCDC during 2022.

Outside of work, Laura is a keen volunteer. She is involved in the CIBSE YEN Committee as part of the external communications team and she is also the coordinator of the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) London Cluster, a role she has covered since August 2021. Within this role, she leads the coordination of the WES Work Shadowing Week which recurs annually in July as well as the general running of the Cluster, also supporting with the organisation of events.

As part of her involvement in the Women in Engineering Society at university, Laura has co-written two books the second of which was recently published.

In her spare time, Laura is a keen runner and is aiming to run at least 5k a week for the whole 2023. She loves to draw and craft, and she makes all her own Christmas cards.
