RCDC produced MEP & Building Services Designs for Islington Borough Council's processing centre for recycling operations, for the purpose of decarbonisation. The project includes;

The refurbishment of 6 air handling units to replace the existing gas fired heating coils with electric and refrigerant coils.

  • Replace the existing direct gas fired domestic hot water (DHW) generation system with an air-to-water source heat pump DHW system.

  • Provide additional Solar Photovoltaic (PV) on the roof to increase the capacity of the existing PV system.

  • Upgrade the existing electrical LV infrastructure to supply the new mechanical equipment, including the construction of a New LV Switch room at the basement level.

This project is to be completed within the Salix application for new heat pumps.

As a result of RCDC’s contribution, it’s estimated that 234 tCO2 will be saved through Low Carbon Design.
